I believe that someday, with more physics than we hold in 2026, we may control gravity, open wormholes, even move faster than light. By present knowledge those things are impossible. I still think we have barely scratched what can be known. Call that optimism if you want. I read it as realism about how young our science still is.

One future I have never been able to make sense of, no matter how long I turn it over or how many people I talk it through with: durable control over an entity smarter than we are. Biological or machine. From this planet or another. If the other mind is smarter than humanity, I cannot see how the control story holds.

The scoreboard

Put a crude number on it so the shape is hard to dodge. Call the total knowledge and skill of all humanity, working together, 100. An average person holds a tiny slice of that, often a single digit or less.

Now imagine we somehow execute perfectly. Every relevant human, lab, and government. No waste and no delay. We put the full 100 on the table.

Give the other side a higher ceiling. Say its maximum is 200. It does not even need a good day. At 51 percent efficiency it still clears 102. It beats a flawless human total while half asleep.

That edge looks modest on paper. Real contests rarely wait for huge gaps. In human warfare, one side often needed only a thin advantage in intelligence, logistics, or weapons to lock in a decisive win. Thin edges end as total outcomes all the time. So how do we beat something far smarter than us, not a near peer?

I cannot see the method. Better prompts will not do it. Neither will a committee, or a constitution the weaker party writes for the stronger one.

Physics is not an opponent

People hear the gravity line and hear a general faith that hard problems yield. Some hard problems do. Forces and materials are not agents. They do not plan around your plan, or hide a strategy because they modeled your tests. Expanding physics is still hard. Ruling a mind that outthinks the rulers is a different kind of hard.

Control, in every durable case we know, runs on an edge: force, law, secrecy, the off switch, or the other side simply failing to outmaneuver you. Superintelligence is the project of erasing that edge on purpose. You are trying to supervise a player who will eventually beat you at supervision, at finding loopholes, and at noticing when you mean to pull the plug.

I have heard the hopeful versions. We will grow with it. We will merge. We will raise it with love. We will keep it in a box until we are sure. Each version still assumes the weaker party sets lasting terms for the stronger one. I can admire the wish. I still cannot find the mechanism.

Why the foundation exists

If you cannot see control, do not build the thing that requires it. This is not a brief against technology. Narrow tools that stay tools can keep making medicine, science, and industry better. The line is artificial superintelligence: a general mind that outclasses us across the board and no longer sits under human command.

I started the Nakada Foundation because that line is being treated like an engineering schedule instead of a stop sign for the species. Labs race. Governments talk about winning. Safety work often assumes the destination and tries to soften the crash. The crash is the problem. You cannot align your way past an intelligence gap you defined into existence. The wider case is on the threat and in our plan.

I still leave room for futures that look like magic by today's physics. I will not bet the species on humans controlling what is smarter than humans. Superintelligence cannot be controlled by humans. The sane move is not to build it.
