Donate to the Nakada Foundation, Fund the fight to keep
humanity in control.

A binding international AI safety treaty will not be handed to us. It has to be argued for, organized for, and paid for. The Nakada Foundation takes no money from AI laboratories or their investors, so our independence depends entirely on people like you.

The case in four steps.

If you want a donation to do as much good as a donation can, the reasoning runs in a straight line. Here it is, with nothing hidden.

1

Give where it does the most good.

The point of a gift is its effect, and a dollar's effect is not the same everywhere. So the honest question is not whether a cause is good. It is whether it is the best available use of the next dollar. Take that question seriously and everything else follows from it.

2

The most good is measured across all of humanity.

The highest-impact causes are the ones that reach everyone, and everyone who comes after. A threat to the entire human future outweighs any bounded problem, because what it puts at stake is not one generation but every generation that could ever follow.

3

Superintelligence is the largest such threat, by an order of magnitude.

Of the technologies that could end humanity, artificial superintelligence sits at the top. By the best structured estimates available, it carries something on the order of a hundred times the extinction risk of nuclear war, and it is the only one that improves itself and acts against every countermeasure we raise. See how it compares to nuclear weapons and bioweapons.

4

The neglected piece is political, and it is all we do.

Technical safety research already commands the field's money and its best minds, and still no one can control a system far smarter than us. The underfunded work is the other kind: the binding, verified international agreement that prevents superintelligence from being built until it can be made safe. We are narrowly focused on that one thing, not on the research that already exists.

So the logic lands in one place.

The most impactful thing you can fund is preventing superintelligence, and the most neglected part of that is the political fight to make it law. That is exactly where your gift goes, and why a dollar here is, dollar for dollar, among the highest-impact gifts you can make.

Independent money,
for independent work.

AI safety research pulls in billions from the labs it studies. The independent advocacy working for enforceable law gets almost none of it. Your donation funds that second kind of work.

§

Policy & Advocacy

Only governments can write the law that binds the labs. Your donations pay for the policy research, legislative outreach, and expert testimony that put compute governance and an international AI safety agreement on the agenda, and keep them there.

Public Education & Culture

Because politicians follow public opinion, we put money behind the writing, media, and cultural work that closes the gap between what the scientific community already knows about AI existential risk and what the public understands.

Coalition Building

A treaty this ambitious needs a wide coalition behind it. Your support funds the organizing that brings researchers, faith communities, civil society, and concerned citizens into a constituency large enough for elected officials to act on.
